What does 'indica' vs 'sativa' actually mean?

5 months agokeep seeing these terms everywhere but explanations are all over the place. what's the real difference?
some say it's the high, some say it's just the plant shape. confused lol

honestly the indica/sativa thing is mostly marketing now. effects are more about terpenes and cannabinoid ratios than plant genetics. myrcene = sleepy, limonene = uplifting, etc
this ^^ terpenes matter way more. but generally indica = couch lock, sativa = energetic. just don't take it as gospel
