Bubble hash vs dry sift — the art is dying and it shouldn't be

With everyone chasing live rosin and diamonds these days, feels like traditional hashmaking is becoming a lost art. And that's a shame because properly made bubble hash or dry sift is still one of the purest expressions of the plant.

Been making bubble hash for 12 years now. The process is meditative — wash bags, ice water, patience. No solvents, no fancy equipment. Just water, ice, and agitation.

Here's what most people get wrong:

  • Water temperature matters more than agitation time. You want near-freezing. Too warm and you're pulling chlorophyll.
  • The 73-120 micron range is your sweet spot. Below 73 you get plant material. Above 120 you're leaving heads behind.
  • Drying is everything. Microplane the hash, freeze dry if possible, or use a pizza box with parchment in a cool dark room for 7-14 days.

Full melt bubble that melts clean on a nail and leaves zero residue — that's the goal. There's nothing like it.

Anyone else still making traditional hash? Would love to see your setups and results. 🧊
